Earth’s Power Yoga: Practice Makes Perfect

Steven Earth has devoted over 20 years of his life to practicing yoga, and ten to teaching it. Like most born instructors, he’s enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge. This is why Earth’s Power Yoga is such a great deal: each class is both a workout and a physiology lesson.

Earth combines challenging postures with verbal and physical adjustments to focus his students on balancing their bodies and strengthening their weak areas. His 1.5-hour classes utilize every muscle in your body, transforming even the stillest postures into a form of resistance training.

Blocks are available for those who need help getting into a pose, and mats are can be rented for $1, though students are encouraged to purchase their own. Metered parking is available along Fairfax and on Melrose.

Suggested donation is $14, though no one will be turned away. Donations can be left in a can outside the door. For those looking to make a day of it, Sundays are a great time to attend, as the Fairfax High School Swap Meet takes place across the street.

The class we attended, the Saturday morning Level 1-3, is a vigorous mixed level workout in a heated (85-degree) studio, so remember to bring water! Other levels are available, ranging from Beginner to Teacher Training. Please visit the Earth’s Power Yoga website to see class schedules or call XXX-XXX-XXXX.
